this is more of a general review. over the last year 3 times a friend has given me a small Opus X as a gift. they have a wonderful reputation but I wonder if that hss gone to their head? each time the cigar was harsh and had a very tight draw. the most recent one had to be re-lit a couple of times. at the price these sell for I'm over Opus X. give me a diamond crown, a Padron '64, even a nice Partagas... just my opinion. curious if anyone else has been disappointed in these......
With a quick toast of the foot and a few puffs, the cigar lit up and immediately filled the air with peppery smoke. The red pepper flavors found during pre-light tasting were more amplified and complemented by notes of warm nutmeg. An unmistakable dark coffee flavor also develops within the first few minutes of the burn. Currently, the cigar is displaying a very solid burn line that keeps the wrapper lit with relative ease....
The cigar (or the ACID, as I should probably be calling it) lit up very easily, immediately producing a huge amount of flavor. The smoke is rich and full of herbal notes. It is hard to identify all of the flavors, but the core is definitely clove, delivered in a nice, smooth, and creamy fashion, likely the work of the golden Connecticut wrapper. The body is mild, further complementing the bevy of herbal flavors, making them enjoyable and not overpowering (which would be easy to do, considerin...
Very mild flavor. Packed tightly so prepare for a strong draw. The tip seems to be wrapped well and did not see any wrapper tears when using the punch....
I have been anxiously awaiting the day I will light up this special cigar. Certainly the 14$ MSRP from Tatuaje should be worth something. The brand is well known and appreciated, known to produce quality products. I had only the best of expectations going into this cigar... It took a few minutes to get the cigar going with a triple-flame torch, but once I had it, the palate was in for a treat. I started to sense notes of black tea, with a woody background. Here and there, a little sweetn...
Wood is the prominent wood immediately upon lighting. It starts out slightly subdued, masked well by deep tobacco notes. As the burn continues on, the wood take the front stage, hinting towards cedar and oak. I was happy to find this cigar densely packed. The draw has just the right amount of tightness to it, and the smoke is dense, rich, and cool....
I really have been looking forward to enjoying this cigar, ever since I received it as a gift. It rested in my humi for about 5 months, and I lit it up last night. This is not just a cigar, it is a cross between a stogie and dessert. The shaggy foot lit up with amazing ease, and as the burn line of the filler approached the wrapper/binder, the rest of it caught up with ease. The initial burn allowed for tasting of just the filler, which is a nice touch to add to the complexity of the cigar...
Alright, so I have been on a small cigar kick, and enjoying a few more flavored offerings than usual. However, I do think that CAO really has a good grasp of what a flavored smoke should be. Giving the cigar a quick clip and light, I immediately was greeted by mild flavors of tobacco, with a crisp spiciness from the Cameroon wrapper. The infused flavors are abundant, but primarily I am picking up almonds, vanilla, and raisin. Also, there is a liquor-like undertone to the whole mixture, whi...
Let me start off saying that this is a perfect little smoke. Heck, it costs under a dollar a stick. I do not intend on comparing this to more expensive cigars, as that would be equivalent of comparing apples to oranges. I am looking at this cigar for what it is: a quick smoke, mild-bodied, and perfect for a short card game under the stars on the balcony. The cigar lit up easily, and burned so to the nub. There is plenty of sweet tobacco smoke, complemented by the slightly sweetened cap. ...
As this was a small cigar, it really had no issues starting up. The first few puffs yielded plenty of dense, white smoke. The aroma is unique, likely imparted by the reddish wrapper that adorns this cigar. I am immediately picking up notes of cinnamon and clove, with an initial sweetness to each puff. The sweetness rapidly towards spicy with each exhale, creating a nice balance. There were a few issues with the burn, once I though I had it well established, but all that required was a few...

This stick just looked delicious before I even lit it up. After visually inspecting this beaut, I toasted it and the triple flame did its job right away. There is a beautiful earthy aroma, full of coffee beans and light wood flavors. As the cigar establishes itself into a comfortable burn, the palate is coated with pleasant oils, which seem to be almost ready to seep out of the cigar. The flavors are definitely rich, but very well balanced. ...
It's almost a shame to light such a beautiful cigar, but that is the glorious fate of any good smoke. It lights up easily, and right away puffs start to generate plenty of white, almost bluish, smoke. There is a good amount of black pepper spice to start with, and right away I can feel mellow undertones of cocoa. A pleasant sweetness seems to cleanse the palate and prepare it for another wave of spice in between puffs....
The cigar lit up with relative ease, even using a smaller flame of a BIC-style lighter. Once it was up and running, I immediately started noticing a prominent presence of cocoa. Spice was definitely delivering a modest punch, but there was also a cinnamon-like nuance lingering in and out....
I gave this perfecto a quick toast and a quick light. Now, my past experience with perfectos led me to believe that a quick light is all that it takes to establish a "perfect" burn. This one I had to touch up about 2 minutes into it. However, from there on out, the cigar continued to burn true all the way to a finger-burning nub. Very nice, woodsy flavors come about with a zesty nuance to help carry them through. I am inclined to say that the zest is due to the Cameroon wrapper, which, wh...
It light up quickly and easily. ...
A minute of toasting with my 3 flame torch, a few light puffs, and the cigar lit up perfectly. The aroma is definitively cedar, crisp and moderately sharp. I wonder if this potency is due to the tobacco used, or is it inherent to the cedar wrap that once hugged this cigar. A few minutes later, the burn cools off and settles into a nice and mellow groove, offering up wonderful notes of cedar along the way. The Connecticut shade wrapper makes the experience even more crisp and toasty, playin...
This is a chunky stick, and lighting it properly took a good 2 or 3 minutes. Once the burn established it remained true and reasonably sharp until the end. The cigar opens up with a mild tobacco flavor, slight peppery notes, and a touch of leather. Each puff draws effortlessly, almost too loose for my preferences. Plenty of white smoke fills the space around me in the lounge, and the woodsy aroma is quite enjoyable....
Upon inspection, I realize that I am holding a very beautiful cigar. It appears to be expertly rolled, even though it is a small-sized cigar. The foot has a rich tobacco core, tantalizing the sense through and through. A quick snip and a light, and I am off to a great start. The smoke is plentiful with each puff, and flavors of oak and other wood greet the palate. There is a good amount of cinnamon spice in the mix, evolving slowly into more of a peppery bite....
Very nice and smooth cedary flavors. Slightly sweet with very mild spice. Lit up very nicely and put out a good amount of smoke....
