Wood is the prominent wood immediately upon lighting. It starts out slightly subdued, masked well by deep tobacco notes. As the burn continues on, the wood take the front stage, hinting towards cedar and oak. I was happy to find this cigar densely packed. The draw has just the right amount of tightness to it, and the smoke is dense, rich, and cool....
After peeling the strip of wax away from the glass tube cap, the Louis XIII Remy Martin cognac wafts up, signaling a great experience to come. The cigar slides out of the tube easily, ready for ignition. I prefer a single-flame torch for more control, which quickly gets this cigar settled in. The aroma is wonderful, filling the air with the sweetness of cognac and medium body tobacco shadowed by cedar and cocoa tones. Just beautiful!. This is the fanciest cigar I have ever smoked - courtesy of my nice Father-in-Law on the occasion of our first born - he had these for at least 3 years & had saved a few for just such an occasion! The Gurkha packaging is awesome - each cigar comes in a thin cedar sheath and has a very elegant black & gold band around it and a black ribbon around the foot. Very classy.
