Easy lighting with semi-smooth chocolate brown wrapper. Medium in body....
Good draw, but starts a crooked burn that constantly tries to correct itself....
Excellent draw with spice and black pepper notes. Solid construction...
Perfect draw with a wonderful salt & pepper taste which turns into a purely exceptional flavor almost immediately....
Slightly firm draw, but very workable. Uniquely pleasant toasty smoke with a subtle hint of mint....
I was seeking out my people's roots and was excited to go to Israel... in the dead of Summer. Never claimed to be very bright. Not knowing the cost of cigars over there, I decided to bring some of my favorites for myself and anyone I might meet that I would enjoy smoking with. My prize possession being the A. Turrent Triple Play. It's called the Triple Play because all the leaves are Maduro. And that the wrapper came from the San Andres Mountains in Mexico. The binder and fillers were made u...
My wife and I were walking around her hometown of Fulda, Germany. We had managed to save for the trip. And we had 3 glorious weeks to enjoy, and for my wife to reminisce. We were sitting on the steps of the Dome Church. Eating some cheese and french bread. Upon completion, I raised my face to the sun and felt all its glory. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a Bauza. This is a very special cigar. Fuente developed it in 1980 but it's been off the radar screen for most cigar lovers and Fuen...
I liked the Criollo but the ligero Criollo is a mutter futter! It's stronger to begin with. I like a cigar that halfway through makes me vomit and then I lay in it for 15 minutes before I start again. Yeah, babies. The prelight is of honey. This is a stick that's hard to stop sniffing. I lick it and get a salty taste. The construction is excellent but very veiny. The oily sheen is gorgeous....
I have been quite excited to try this budget release from Pete and Pepin, and my expectations were met spot on. With a half of a minute of toasting, I took a few warmer puffs and the cigar blazed to life. I must say, the burn line on this thing was razor sharp all the way to the nub, a pleasant attribute of any cigar (I personally don't enjoy touch-ups, and I'd really like to know who does). I started to pick up on some fainter notes of leather and cedar, but the cedar soon subsided and m...
It is quite a treat to have a discontinued cigar like the La Tradicion Cabinet Series. With a little bit of toasting with the match, the flame caught on rather quickly and I was off to a good start. To begin with, this cigar is reminiscent of a very savory chocolate bar: notes of dark chocolate and coffee ease their way onto the palate, greeting me with what is about to be a very enjoyable cigar....
The cigar took a little bit of toasting to burn right, and continued to maintain a solid burn line until about half way through the smoke (more on that later). There is a plethora of flavors entering the stage, but none are very strong and are much more mellowed out compared to other ACIDs (like the Deep Dish). The smoke is a little thin for my liking, but very aromatic nonetheless. Previously felt flavors of tea are now complimented with mint, and a white pepper tingle on the finish....
The stick caught the flame very easily, maintaining a sharp burn all the way to the end. Upon lighting, the light notes of cedar and oak, which I felt on the dry draw, took center stage. Coffee tones became almost entirely extinguished and made way for earth. Initially, the aroma was that of a praised barnyard, which ultimately transformed into very pleasant earthy flavors. There is plenty of dense, white smoke, leaving behind a sturdy ash of nearly the same color....
Flavors of cedar from the prelight intensified, bringing forth a crispy dimension to the notes. There is a slight sweetness on the palate, lingering after exhale, but not as strong on the inhale. A hint of latte is apparent on the retrohale, mending nicely with the woody notes of the smoke itself....
Initial light of the cigar is very easy, lots of smoke. My only complaint is it does not do much for the palate and is almost overwhelming....
Initial light of cigar is thick and full of rich leather. The initial light left me slightly overwhelmed with the amount of earth and leather flavor and I was concerned at first whether I would be able to handle this grade of cigar. It does leave a nice film on the palate which sets you up for the first third....
For a value-line stick, this one can hold its own with any mild cigar. Upon lighting, toasty notes of cedar emanate along with other woodsy nuances. The flavor is very pleasing on the palate and through the nose. While not overpowering, the flavors appear very full and are complemented well by a slight sweetness coming from the wrapper of the cigar....
Before I lit up the cigar, I could not help but admire the "dos capas" (dual wrapper) design. I know, the trend is a couple years old now, but I cannot help but like multi-wrapper cigars. The Cabinetta Series does not overdo it, either, and I think it added a nice dimension for the palate to enjoy that would have not been there without the two wrappers. Upon snipping the cap and a good minute-long toast, this fairly large cigar lit up easily, immediately producing nice toasty, nutty flavors...
I have been waiting to smoke this stick for a while now, and what better time than to start out my PhD studies in biomedical engineering. The foot caught the flame after a short toast, initiating a consistent and sharp burn for the rest of the experience. There is a good amount of sweetness coming through along with prominent notes of cinnamon and anise. The smoke is rich and has a full-bodied aroma, complementing well the lighter flavors....
The perfecto tip lit up very easily and provided a flawless burn throughout the cigar. The initial notes of cedar definitely picked up with with the flame with deep, earthy tobacco notes complemented its crisp nuances. Somewhere in the background, the tobacco core appears to sweeten up a bit, which might be due to the approaching first third being the thickest part of the cigar....
The large-gauge cigar took the flame with ease, and in no time clouds of thick white-gray smoke filled the air. The pre-light flavors of leather and roasted nuts really make a prominent appearance, and the spice that lurked in the background starts to come forth a little stronger. So far, the burn is good, and the two wrappers are not fighting to keep up with one another....
