Initial Light

Strong Pepper, hints of wood and leather. Cap was poorly placed and a little small but didn't cause any problems with unraveling after being snipped. Draw was medium to a little tight. I usually punch these thin ring gauges but my punch is being repaired, but I suspect the draw will open up and be fine.

First 1/3:

Fairly up front pepper spice and earth flavors, moving towards the second third progressing a little more towards faint sweetness of cocoa. Perfect Burn, razor sharp burn line, ash holds well into the 1" range. Very cool burn for such a small ring gauge.

Second 1/3:

Pepper has faded a good bit but still quite noticeable in the sinuses. Woodsy sweet flavors have taken over with a nice espresso aftertaste. Very slight burn in the back of my throat and on the back of my tongue. Burn still flawless, with a very light gray ash with very thin lines of charcoal color between the draws. Very noticeable tastes of cocoa now linger on the pallet between puffs. Already reaching the full strength, I can definitely feel it in my stomach even after a large Mexican food dinner.

Final 1/3:

Final third continued with the overall spicy woody flavor and the cocoa aftertaste has all but completely faded leaving behind a tingling tongue and throat. Strength is in the very full range now. After each puff I am sipping my water to lessen the tobacco tingle on the back of my tongue and throat. Flavor is still amazing although the complexity has died down considerably. Towards the end of the smoke I had a very slight burn problem due only to the humidity here so I re-lit the wrapper and upon the next draw I caught a noticeable return of some of the flavors tasted in the second 1/3. Let the poor fella die at 1" remaining. *The 4 bonus points that I'm giving this cigar are strictly as a result of that last blast of flavor when I re-lit the wrapper at the nub*
