Initial Light

After peeling the strip of wax away from the glass tube cap, the Louis XIII Remy Martin cognac wafts up, signaling a great experience to come.
The cigar slides out of the tube easily, ready for ignition. I prefer a single-flame torch for more control, which quickly gets this cigar settled in. The aroma is wonderful, filling the air with the sweetness of cognac and medium body tobacco shadowed by cedar and cocoa tones. Just beautiful!. The cigar needs a little touch up to burn evenly, but no big deal.

First 1/3:

Just perfect. Easy draw, volumes of smoke with that wonderful aroma---not sickly Swisher-sweet--not phony cherry-vanilla whatever...just that subtle warmth of the cognac. Even the women walking around outside comment favorably.

Second 1/3:

The tobacco aroma is starting to even up the aromas now. More strength coming through. The pepper spice is here, with just the right balance. Had to touch up the side with the torch.

Final 1/3:

It's a big cigar, taking over an hour and a half to go through. Very strong now, more than I expected from a medium bodied stick. The Remy Martin is not really there anymore, but that's ok...a flavored cigar this big might get to be a bit much. Burn and draw are still perfect.
On a side note, I tried the triple-infused one (purple wax- $30)...and this one is better! If you want an unusual cigar of exquisite quality and construction, and with the distinctive nuance of one of the world's great cognacs, don't miss this cigar. You will not be disappointed.
