PuffingBilly purchased this cigar on 2009-01-01.
Pre-light draw was fine - just right. On initial lighting the burn was steady and even. The initial taste was rather harsh I thought - I was expecting something smoother.
It was certainly full bodied - more so than other Davidoffs I have smoked. However, once you got into it a little the initial harshness subsided it became actually quite creamy - not something you expect in a full-bodied cigar.
By the time I reached the second third the harshness unfortunately returned and it had a decidedly bitter taste to it. Then it sort of came and went for the rest of the cigar. The burn remained steady and consistent.
In between the harsh episodes the flavor was pretty good and complex. It went back and forth, light and creamy one minute and full and heavy and bitter the next. As it neared the end the harshness was more common and in the end I gave up on it. I think if it had been consistently light and creamy it would have been an excellent cigar. I bought a pack of 5 so I am hoping that this first one was just a rogue. At ten bucks a pop I was expecting better! If the others are better I may revise my score.
