Initial Light

The initial light on the Gol! is heavy coffee, dark chocolate, and leather. The coffee notes are dark - almost Kona-like which almost drown-out the leathery notes I thought I would taste more of. You can taste a hint of the sweet maduro wrapper as well. There was absolutely no bitterness to the beginning of this cigar. This cigar gets right to business.

First 1/3:

The Gol! remains pretty much the same during the first 1/3 of the cigar. I'd say there's plenty of consistent dark coffee notes. The only change is almost at the end of the first 1/3 - I'm barely getting a hint of sweet cherry. It's very faint. The leather I tasted pre-light is gone.

Second 1/3:

The smoke is now very thick and the flavor coats my palette. I now realize that the cigar has become much smoother. There were initial flavors of spice that I don't taste anymore. We are still on dark coffee and, with the sweet maduro wrapper, I'm getting hints of semi-sweet chocolate.

Final 1/3:

The CAO Gol! is a powerful cigar full of flavor. The smoke billows from this cigar. The end of the cigar is smooth and the flavors remain the same. I'd recommend this cigar for people that are used to smoking full-flavored, maduro cigars. If you're not into a very heavy cigar this isn't the cigar for you. This is for the real heavy cigar smokers that like a full-flavored blend.
