avantgrade purchased this cigar on 2010-04-07.
It has 6 months of additional aging.
The perfecto tip lit up very easily and provided a flawless burn throughout the cigar. The initial notes of cedar definitely picked up with with the flame with deep, earthy tobacco notes complemented its crisp nuances.
Somewhere in the background, the tobacco core appears to sweeten up a bit, which might be due to the approaching first third being the thickest part of the cigar.
As the body settles into a medium realm, the core tobacco flavors become very evident. We are the the widest ring gauge of the cigar, and the filler overpowers the Cameroon wrapper (and I say this in the most positive way - it is a great experience to explore the flavors of the wrapper and fillers alone and together, and this cigar allowed just that). The cedar subsides substantially and a slight citrus aroma emerges.
The second third brings in the trademark Cameroon wrapper flavors, with notes of peppery spice and a subtle sweetness. The smoke stays cool and rich with flavors, and the ash hangs very tight and the draw is smooth throughout the burn.
I have not had to correct the burn line on the cigar, which has made it an even more enjoyable experience.
I "nubbed" this cigar to the fullest meaning of the word. While the flavors were full during the entire experience, they intensified to a truly magnificent level. Cedar spice and very slight notes of clove accentuated the sweetness from the Cameroon wrapper.
The entire burn took me about 35 minutes. Certainly, I took it a little slower with this cigar, but I was rewarded greatly.
